Niagara Falls Accommodations A number of hotels are located adjacent to the falls – many have
a direct view of the falls. On the Canadian side, Hilton, Ramada, Sheraton,
Radisson, and Renaissance hotels, among others, all offer views of the
falls. Prices start at approximately $90 out of season and well over
$100 in season. On the American side, Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton, Renaissance,
and the Oakes Hotel, among others, offer views of the falls. Dozens of other hotels are near the falls on either side of the border. In general hotels on the Canadian side are somewhat less expensive than those on the American side, and many U.S. visitors choose to cross the border for a night or two. (Plus it’s a way to check out the sites in Canada as well.) If you’re crossing the border, be sure to bring your birth certificate and passport or driver’s license. Banks and businesses will exchange your money, or you can simply use a debit card or credit card to make purchases. Many Americans stay in Canada just for the experience – the lower hotel prices are an added bonus. In general, the farther from the falls you stay, the less expensive your accommodations will be. The city of Buffalo is approximately twenty minutes from the falls – you’ll find great deals on hotels on the outskirts of the city if you don’t mind driving to and from the falls. Keep in mind that seasonal rates apply. During the summer months (June
through August) prices will be highest; in mid-winter prices are at
their lowest levels. Good compromise months are May and September –
crowds will be lower, prices will be cheaper, and the weather is still
moderate. No matter what you do, though, shop around. Many of the hotels change their prices regularly, and some offer package or special deals in conjunction with local casinos. Also ask if the hotel offers special bonuses like reduced prices on attractions, or on shows at the casinos. As more and more hotels have been built competitive pressure has caused them to offer creative ways to entice customers. If you don’t ask… you can’t receive. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
